Today many students have seen mass shootings in their schools and it is a common worry for young people. New York State has not seen a mass shooting in a school since 1974 and the issues seems far away because these shooting happen in other states. However, students still worry and are now joining together to march against it.
According to an article from the New York Times, high school students who use violence in school show warning signs before. The article noted that student wrote threatening notes, posted photos of them holding guns on social media and drew threatening and disturbing images in their notebooks during school.
This emphasizes the consequences that might happen to students during school time. Which makes them worry too much and feel unsafe at school. And that’s probably why they walked out and marched as students, so that the government can pay more attention on the school shootings and safety. Nobody would feel safe around where shootings are happening.
¨Attackers stormed a holiday party in San Bernardino, California, last Wednesday, killing 14 and wounding 21. Such shootings seem to happen and have become all too familiar here in the United States.¨ This quotes makes it clear that having guns would up-rise the death of people. Specially in the United Stated as it is mentioned in the quote “killing 14 and wounding 21” this is really obvious that the US second amendment passed by the US government is a hurtful law and unfair to people. The right to bear arms is a fully part of responsibility that causes this shootings since it allows people with accurate identification to be able to buy gun. Having a clean background and valid papers does not mean anything. If those who have right to bear arms have guns and want to shoot at someone they would definitely do. So this law puts more people in trouble.

Tequan, a student from Forsyth Satellite, who is researching mental illness commented, “Gun violence is a topic that’s been going on for years. Some people either used it as a scapegoat or they have mental issues. School shooting is mostly caused by people with mental problem”. According to his quotes, he is basically explaining that mass shootings have been happening for several years. The shootings are mostly caused by people who have mental illness and people who were blamed for a wrongdoing, they feel that hurt and that emotion would lead them to kill somebody.
Tequan a student from Forsyth Satellite emphasizes that, “There must be stricter gun laws to reduce mass shooting because people can easily purchase them from certain shopping places. There needs to be more background checks before handling a gun to anybody”.
Justice Scalia, a US Supreme Court Justice, said, “nothing in our opinion should be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms." According to this quote, it is basically supporting individual gun ownership. Even though gun are prohibited in those situations it is not an effective way to keep people from shooting. Because those who were categorized to keep them away from guns are the ones who causes most crimes. As a matter of fact any one can easily have access to a gun since there are too many gun shops in the United States. And the firearms commercials aren’t really doing a good job because they do not really go into a deep background check with the gun purchaser.
As a matter of fact, we can totally be protected without individual guns, because not every single civilian owns a gun. People would be better protect if others who are not incharge of our safety do not own gun. Only police and people in the army should be allowed to carry gun, and make a stricter law about guns. Most of the time the problem is not about the gun owner but somebody else. Many gun violence occurred caused by someone else who name was not registered under that gun used. But still if individual gun owners cannot control their guns to keep them away from others who might cause crime with their guns then they do not deserve their guns. A parent might happen to have his/her kid steal their gun and go shoot somebody.
