Smartphones

by David Garcia

Smartphones are a drug to young people and adults. “Cellphones and laptops can be distracting for students in classrooms, and new research also shows that using electronic devices can even lower students’ grades” Stated abcnews. For example in F.S.A everybody is usually on their phones and don’t pay attention to the class.

“It takes away the possibilities of things that could be done in the classroom because there are so many things going on outside of the classroom”, Stated Ishrat a teacher at F.S.A.

Students that use social media are so busy being on their phones and not worried about themselves. Chris a teacher in F.S.A stated, “I feel like a lot of students waste their time using apps and social media” They are so worried about what’s going on with the celebrities and things like that. Ishrat also stated that “Social media right now is really making me unsatisfied with my life because I see other people lives” A lot of young adults see that celebrities are doing something that they are not supposed to do and want to tag along knowing that what their doing is wrong. They also see that celebrities are going to a tough time in their career and people make fun of them instead of giving them good advice. But NO they only look at them for the bad things they did.

Social media is a impact in students lives they always want to be up to date with everything. Like as soon as they get a notification they want to reply as fast as possible instead of worrying about something important. According to an article in Forbes “You know the feeling…the phone buzzes and you can’t help but grab your phone to find out what’s happening.” This quotes sums it up for students and kids in this generation.

Kids 6-12 years old have smartphones now. Thatś why they don't act their age they talk as if they were 15 year old. Little kids don't like to watch cartoons their age they want to watch what older kids do and older kids do what adults do so obviously the kids are seeing things theyŕe not suppose to be seeing.

According to the article ifstudies “Mark Lerner, a clinical psychologist based in New York, says that he believes that many of the mental health issues young people are facing today can be traced to technology.”
