Synthetic marijuana use can lead to side effects like rapid heart rate, vomiting, agitation and hallucinations. The most widely known synthetic marijuana is called “spice” or “K2” which is banned in the U.S along with several of the individual chemicals used to produce it. In addition synthetic marijuana can trigger seizures to psychosis which reacts in the brain. K2 is made to hit cannabinoid receptors.

Spice can also raise blood pressure and cause reduced blood supply to the heart which is called myocardial ischemia. According to complex.com, “Dozens in brooklyn were hospitalized in brooklyn after using synthetic marijuana.”

Additionally, a student at Forsyth Satellite Academy, Erickson, says “I’ve tried it before. It made me feel as if I was not in reality. I did not feel normal at all.”

Synthetic marijuana can lead to addiction and death. Last month as claimed by complex.com, “One man died in Illinois after using synthetic marijuana. Other users in Illinois experienced severe bleeding, and 35 people had to be hospitalized after taking the drug. The CDC later issued an official warning about synthetic weed, citing the presence of rat poison in about 18 of the 38 patients.

Furthermore, spice can lead to violent and irrational behavior. As stated by drugfreeworld.org “In August 2013, a 21 year old mother who was under the influence of spice had thrown her four year old into the trash bin and when arrested by police did not remember where her son was.”

Adding onto that experience K2 has caused paralysis. Claimed by drugfreeworld.org a former addict shares her experience on using spice saying “ After using spice for several weeks, I woke up early one night, fell to the floor, couldn’t move my legs and couldn’t move my hips. All i can do was drag myself by my forearms and that wasn’t making it anyway so I laid on the floor for 13 hours…. Doctors said another two hours I would have been dead.”

K2 is often referred to as “fake weed” or “synthetic” because it is human made mind altering chemicals that are either sprayed on dried shredded plants materials so that they can be smoked or used for liquids to be vaporized. This drug is very dangerous and highly recommended to be kept at distance.
