Hotel across the street from an overcrowded school

In Bay Ridge ,Brooklyn P.S./I.S. 104, one of the most overcrowded schools in the city are protesting. They are protesting against proposed six-story hotel along with state senator Marty Golden.

At the moment the space across the street, is a parking lot. Everyone was fine with that until the owner Ankit Mehta decided to make it a six story sixty three unit hotel. Mehta will have homeless vouchers so the homeless have a place to stay for a night or two. State senator said, “I think we need to have housing for our homeless but not across from an overcrowded school in the most overcrowded school district in the city of New York.”

Lots of parents aren’t to fond of the idea. So they started to protest and had the state’s senator on their side. “.... the senator said, he believes Mehta will flip the property, leaving his constitutions ‘stuck with a hotel that not only has homeless vouchers but also prostitution and who knows what else’ ”
