Quality Review (QR) is a process that evaluates how well a school is able to support student learning and teacher’s practice. The QR is something that each New York City public school must have every year. Forsyth Satellite Academy is being reviewed this week, so if you had a visitor in your classroom on Wednesday or Thursday they were here as a part of the QR. FSA received an overall rating of Proficient.
QR reviewers have a 10 rows and for each row the school gets graded on how well they help students understand the task and the information.
Patrick, who is the supervisor at FSA, said that, “ the QR is important for the school, because the results of the QR are public, and people who are interested in either working at the school or attending the school can look st the information. Also guidance counselors from other high school who are trying to find “good” transfer schools will look at the information.
Diamond Brown, a student at FSA, said that, “random adults walked into the class” during Ken’s 3rd period class on Wednesday. Diamond claimed that she doesn’t know what a QR is, and how it works.
“I felt prepared, but I didn’t feel like I needed to be as long as I know the learning target” Diamond commented. Diamond also stated that the reviewers that were in her classroom analyzed the students based on the observation to make sure that the teachers are doing a great job and making sure students understand what we are doing.
The reviewer’s last comments to Patrick were that it’s a Quality Review we should be proud of.
