I feel that you should be able to speak on whatever you want to but some things should be censored.Some thing should be censored, for example if you have a friend who is dating someobody, and you have information that that person is dating is cheaating on them, you should censor it when telling your friend what’s going on because if you openly say what you know, everything you know about the person then your friend may not believe you because of the reason that they are dating that person.

When it comes to students, certain topocs such as sexuality, should be censored, because openly speaking about them, may put some students in an uncomfortable position. When you put things out there in a student newspaper, the whole school can read about, and if a student let’s say, may be homophobic, they might feel embarassed, or someone may not be ready to speak openly about their sexuality, and if the whole school has access to reading aout that specific person, then that person may feel horrible. They may may also not like the school they are in anymore and may want to leave because they feel as though they are being accused or put on the spot.

Some might argue that students should not be censored because certain topics may need to be spoken on in a way where they can express their full opinion. If they feel that if some of their points would be censored, that student may feel as though they do not have the right to speak on what they want to and they are not being heard fully. Students should be hearfeel that their thoughts fully because if a students wants to express their full opinion on something that is important to them, then, they may feel like what they are saying doesn’t matter to the school. One reason this may be true is when the school censors an opinion, what they usually do is censor the details that most matter to the opinion or article. As a result, the student will feel like no one is taking that article seriously. Schools should take these articles seriously because students are putting their all into them, their feelings into it. When a student writes these articles, then this student is being passionate about their article, so taking out those important details, is like taking out the passion the student brings to the article. If the writer feels strongly about their topic then their audience may be passionate about these ideas if they are fully uncensored.

As a student journalist if I am writing an opinion and I feel strongly about this opinion, every word that I write in the article is going to mean something to me. Therefore, I want the article to be read fully as I intended it to be.
