A legendary rap icon named Kurtis Blow was very popular around the 80’s, he was more into the Hip Hop genre of music. A man who grew up living in New York City, Harlem became very known for his passion of music. On January 1, 1984 he released a song called “Basketball”, The song was a huge impact on so many players who were apart of the NBA league. Kurtis Blow was 25 years old when he released his song Basketball. In the song, there's a lyric that talks about how basketball has been favorite sport to play, “Play basketball at it’s very best, basketball has always been my thing”. One shocking thing about Kurtis Blow is that he was better in football than basketball in his growing of age, but now he has lots of love for basketball.

I remember when I used to have the same passion for basketball like Kurtis Blow did. I was in the 7th grade, as a 12 year old my balling skills were good enough. I never made it in the basketball team in middle school because I didn’t like how everything was about competition, I liked playing because it was fun and energetic. A part of me was kind of jealous of the other kids because they won awards and trophies for being the team, that’s how I dreamed of being like if I would have joined. Now that I’m older I realized that basketball isn’t the fun activity I used to think it was, I’m not good with the skills I used to have, not even rusty skills.
