Is it possible that the Golden State Warriors can make the Western Conference Finals without Stephen Curry in the lineup? The focus is can the Warriors get back to being the elite contenders in the Western Conference or are the Houston Rockets just too much to handle for the Warriors? Can any team in the western conference upset the warriors in a 7 game series with the recent struggles they had in the regular season without Stephen Curry? Do the Warriors have that Championship edge over the Houston Rockets? Or are the Houston Rockets super hungry for a Larry O’Brien trophy this year?
Right now the Golden State Warriors are 2-0 on the New Orleans Pelicans and I believe that they are the heavy favorites to win it all this year, because of the way that they’ve been playing since last year’s championship run. I believe the Warriors have the best team in the league right now. They have a great starting 5 plus they have vets coming off the bench producing for them. In the warriors team it’s not about individual success it’s about the whole teams success. Meaning that they put away their pride in order to achieve these accolades in the NBA. Everybody in the team has their own specific role and they play off of each other.
They have a great head coach who prioritizes ball movement and also wants everyone to play as a team. Steve Kerr has also won championships with the greatest player of all time Michael Jordan, so he knows what it takes for the teams success. This is a great quality for your head coach to have because he knows what it takes to win and also runs plays for the players without the ball in their hand, with hard cuts to the rim and good ball movement. This makes the overall team happy because everyone’s getting a piece of the action and it’s not just 1 2 or 3 given players going off in any given night.
According to CBS Sports, “No one has ever coached a team to 73 wins. No one has ever finished first in defensive rating and first in pace, a combination previously thought impossible due to the demands on players to limit transition plays. No one has ever reached the Finals unbeaten as Golden State did last season.” two titles on their 3 straight trips to the NBA Finals.
In interviewing teacher and basketball coach Taiyo Ebato about whether or not the Warriors have the edge over the Rockets, he said, “Definitely, because no one on the Rockets can guard KD, and I think that makes the small difference especially when it comes to those final seconds of the shot clock or a game and also, KD is a monster on D these days.”
So far the Houston Rockets and Gsw series is tied at 2-2 and Klay and Andre are listed as questionable for game 5 I’m not sure if the chances have dwindled for the Warriors. I still believe that despite the injuries Warriors are still title favorites.
