Childhood Obesity: is it the parents fault?

Childhood obesity is a worldwide issue, countries like mexico, kuwait and switzerland been known to have the highest percentages of childhood obesity. Often times we like to blame large fast food franchises and their advertisement tactics and although, large fast food chains mainly target children, I believe the parent is just as guilty.
Here’s my debate parents choose the foods that are brought into their homes, they are responsible for what they’re children eat, and the amount of exercise their children are receiving. Some may agree that 80% of the time children are in school and that the school system does not supply kids with healthy options to grub on, and I suppose that can be an argument however parents job to pack food for their child to enjoy a healthy hearty meal. In an interview with a Forsyth Satellite substitute teacher she stated, “at a young age parents are responsible by the law to dictate their child's diet to a healthy one, but if the parent lives an unhealthy lifestyle that will trickle down to the child”. And apparently 7 students surveyed agreed, when asked most students responded stating that in a child's formative years the parent is 100% responsible but as the child grows and forms itself into a young adult, the parent no longer has much control on what their child consumes outside of home.
