Has Facebook become less appealing?

Facebook was once a very popular app. I used to love the app as much as any other person would’ve when the app came out.

As the years passed a lot of different apps were also made, competing with facebook. Apps such as snapchat and instagram were created to grab teens attention.

Snapchat had many filters and instagram had many pictures and hashtags that could be used when facebook did not have as many.

Snapchat and instagram also became more and more competitive and popular over the years and so did facebook. However, facebook seemed to have become less appealing to teens. Their filters, hashtags and followers become more noticable and was more important to teens. They no longer cared for the additions on friends and the pages on facebook.

A large amount of teens have stopped using facebook or deactivated their accounts mainly because the app had nothing new to keep them occupied.

In an interview with David Cruz, a student here at Forsyth Satellite Academy stated, “I think facebook has become less appealing because i'm not a status type of guy. I don’t like expressing myself through status, I like expressing myself through pictures. That’s why I like instagram and snapchat more.”

I asked David, “Do you believe facebook has become more or less competitive compared to instagram or snapchat?”

David said, “I believe facebook is not competitive compared to instagram and snapchat. I believe people use snapchat and instagram more because people just are constantly posting photos and I personally feel they’d rather do that than write statuses all day.”

The final question I asked David was “Do you think facebook is safe compared to instagram or snapchat?”

David said, “Facebook is not as safe because you have to put more personal information than the other two. Also, people can track you down faster than snapchat or instagram.”
