The 2017-18 season has been very competitive season and there has been a lot of great players that are MVP candidates including Russell Westbrook and, James Harden but Lebron James has been by far the most impressive player this season. Lebron is third in the league for points second for assist and fifteenth in rebounds without missing a game this whole season. Lebron has been playing in the NBA for 15 season and is 33 years old and already has 4 MVPs and could possibly get his 5th this season.
Lebron single handedly carried his subpar team to the playoffs this year averaging 27 points per game and 9.1 assist, according to Basketball Reference, having the most points per game on his team. Lebron is also a leader on and off the court guiding his team to wins. Without Lebron Cleveland would be a lottery team and have no chance of getting to the playoffs. As of now Cleveland is tied 1-1 in the playoffs against the Indiana Pacers. During game two Lebron scored 16 points before Indiana could even score one point and carried his team to the win with 46 points, according to Basketball References.
James Harden of Houston Rockets has also had a great season but it does not compare to what Lebron has done. Lebrons playoff performance makes him a much more valuable player then Harden. James went 2 for 18 and only had 12 points, according to Basketball References which is not stats an MVP candidate should have. When I interviewed Makus from Bushwick campus he stated “Lebron is the best player in the NBA right now and has carried his team to the playoffs therefor he should get MVP this year.”
