Student journalists should be able to write about whatever they want as long as they are not being racist or disrespectful towards a certain group of people. In other words, they should be able write whatever they want as long as they’re ethical. For example, you can’t let a student journalist publish and article about how black people are n**gers just because of their skin color, or view them as less equal than whites. At the end of the day student journalists are under someone. There is a person that has to see every article or story that gets thrown into the public eye. And the editors reputation is at steak in a situation like this. When people get mad and start rebelling and calling the school newspaper a piece of shit and the most vulgar news paper they have ever seen they will not only come after the journalists but also the editor which in this case is someone with a higher rank than the students. Student journalists should be able to write anything they want as long as it is not blatantly being disrespectful towards the community or members of the community. If students had complete freedom as to what they can write and how they can write it, they will be able to do malicious things such as public bullying. Something that can cause someone to take their own life, This as was said before can put people reputation on the line
