Censorship is the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books , films , news , etc ,that are considered obscene , politically unacceptable , or a threat to security. Student journalists should be supported by the constitutional right of ‘ freedom of the press ‘ because it gives students the space to report things that help people be informed , brings justice , and tells the whole truth. In the first amendment the law states that people are allowed to distribute and publish things without government intervention. For example in the article , “censorship and high school newspapers,” the author talked about a story that was covered about freshmans on a football team getting hazed as a form of initiation as a tradition . When the article was published , the principal wanted to have the article censored. Soon after the article was published and was getting attention the coach of the football team resigned but claimed it had nothing to do with what happened. Now we all know that hazing is illegal , so if the author did not publish this article would the coach have resigned ? The author published this article in order to keep us informed with the truth , and shed light to a issue that needed to be addressed .
