Pride Month

June is national pride month, for people who don’t know what it is, it’s an annual LGBT Pride Celebration. LGBT/LGBTQ/LGBTQQ all mean Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and Queer. Every year, during the month of June, the LGBTQ community celebrates in a number of different ways. Such as teaching children love and acceptance, Learning about LGBTQ leaders in history, city wide pride events, donating to LGBTQ non profits, Volunterring with LGBTQ organizations, and many other things.

“There’s still a tremendous amount of homophobia in our culture. It’s regrettable, it’s stupid, it’s heartless, and its immortal, but there it is.” -Rupert Everett

The month of June was chosen for LGBT Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. ... On several occasions, the President of the United States has officially declared a Pride Month.

This month brings people from every race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation together to celebrate each other and who they love.

My cousin Jocelyn believes in equal right and stated, “We shouldn’t have to walk outside and be afraid to be who we are, this month let’s us know that we’re not alone and when we all stand together, the sky's the limit.”
