Three hits translated three hits is a breakfast that comes from Dominican Republic, this breakfast is composed with fried salami, fried eggs, fried onions and Mangu. Mangu is just mashed plantains and this is where the caramelize onions come on top. The cool thing about this breakfast is that it can be serve for breakfast, lunch and dinner, because of how heavy it is. One of the main dishes people or tourists ask for when visiting Dominican Republic is Tres Golpes.
But is a really easy dish you can cook at home without needing a lot of money, you can get all this ingredients at your local supermarket. The ingredients you will be needing are:
2 Plantains
2 Eggs
1 tablespoon of Butter
4 slices of Salami
1 tablespoon of Olive oil
Salt
4 slices of White Cheese( most preferably cheese that is meant to be fried)
½ of Red Onions (optional but add flavor to the dish)
1 ½ tablespoon of Vinegar
1 cup of Water
First, you are gonna peel the plantains, cut them into four pieces and boil them for 30 minutes, add a little bit of salt and just let them boil. In the meanwhile slide the onions and add vegetable oil, a little bit of salt and vinegar to a medium heated pan. After, the pan is hot enough add the onions lower the heat and let them cook till they get pink.
While the plantains cook, slide the salami into four thick slides and fry them , when you’re done with the salami, fry the eggs. Now that you have everything done, is time to take out the plantains from the boiling water and put them in a big bowl. Once they’re there add some water, butter, and little tiny bit of milk and smash them all together until the consistency is like a mash potato puree. Now just put the smash plantains in a plate, put the salami, the cheese and the eggs on the side. Lastly put the onions on top of the Mangu(mashed plantains) and you’re all done.
