The effects of pregnancy on a teenager are many in number. The effects include making decisions that they aren't ready to make like, whether or not to keep the baby, abort the baby, or give the baby up for adoption. Then there are the effects of each of those decisions. As well the body changes at a rapid speed, most of the time the partner is not there to help make these kinds of decisions. Teen pregnancy is very common and there are many groups and organizations that are designed to help teens that are pregnant.
According to the latest fertility data found in “The Welcome Newspaper” the Trump administration has cut $213.6 million in federal grants to Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program.” It shows that The birth rate for American teenagers dropped to 20.3 births per 1,000 girls ages 15–19 in 2016. Teen Pregnancy Programs is all about teaching girls to stay protected from getting pregnant and the dangers of catching different types diseases.
The CDC states that, “The number reached a high point in 1970, with 644,708 babies born to women aged 15–19 years, 37 percent more than the preliminary number reported for 2000 (470,506).” It also says that “The birth rate for U.S. teenagers in 2000 was 48.7 births per 1,000 women aged 15–19 years.” This shows that there was a major decrease in birth rate since 1970 to 2000. Why is there a decrease?
From interviewing alliyah Watson “I’m not fond of knowing I had a baby as a teenager. lots of people I’ve hung around been in the same situation of getting pregnant but they actually decided to abort their babies.” Many questions still stand on why is abortion still an option and there’s never a legitimate answer.
From 1973 to 2012 statistics from cdc show that the abortion rates increased dramatically starting from 744,610 babies to 1,011,000 babies being aborted. Losing Teen Pregnancy Programs lead to uneducated young ladies that also leads to higher conceiving rates, and more abortions. There are young females today being forced to have these abortions whether they can’t afford a baby, not ready to be a parent which scares them, and even females that don’t care for babies. But with the cuts being made to Teen Pregnancy Prevention Programs it’s fair to say that this could easily lead young teenagers to having Abortions.
