Are Teenagers Getting Enough Sleep?

Sleep is the most vital form of recovery. Developing adults and teenagers are not getting enough of it. According to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital the average amount of sleep that teenagers are getting is roughly between 7 and 7 ¼ hours . However, growing adults should be sleeping 9 ¼ hours. Lack of sleep can have lasting negative effects.
Sleep deprivation can take a huge toll on one’s physical health, from memory issues to a weakened immunity, not getting the necessary amount of sleep can eve be fatal, risks of high blood pressure and diabetes can begin to immerse.
According to 18 year old Tatiana Vasquez, from Forsyth Satellite Academy, not being able to sleep enough, affects her moods, “I often feel moody, sometimes I get really agitated, and emotional, I also feel weaker, like I even have trouble opening doors” she laughs. All students surveyed agreed with her. When asked if they felt as if they got enough sleep, they all replied NO!, many had to take naps after school in order to rest.
Students should take more care of their sleeping schedules, so after school, after chores some tv, grab your teddy and catch some Z’s.
